4.2 the best data and source that can

Primary Data

a) Interview

For the purpose to collect the
relevant information, several methods are identified. Firstly, as the author is
the IIUM Master student and the research will be done in IIUM, the method of
interview can be conducted at any time in office hours. In order to ensure the
availability of staff there and the IEF office, there was a request done early
so that, this research can be started smoothly at the first place. IEF allows
the interview session for the purpose of this research.

b) Questionnaire

Information from the questionnaire
is among the best data and source that can be analyze and it produces validated
result. (Black 1999) indicated that the data is useful for right decision

The questions designed
at the first stage will focus on waqf knowledge among the relevant respondents
which are the staff of IIUM mainly at the main campus IEF unit and the Finance
Division are the important respondents that deals with the funds of waqf
projects.. In the IIUM organizational chart as per May 2017 indicated that IEF
is still reporting their activities to Finance Division of IIUM thus this make
the staff of Finance Division is relevant to be surveyed. Then, the question
designed will reach the objectives of this study from the perspective of the

Secondary Data

a) Non-published Document of IEF

The author tried to collect written
information from IEF either physical documents or softcopy. Again, from IEF
response, the author is allowed to get the information needed, but IEF through
the email stated that, any ??information that classified as confidential
information is unallowable. However, it is believed that, they will cooperate
since the fast response they gave to the author earlier and the support from
IEF’s Covering Director himself. According to him, he asked the author to list
the information that this study needs and he and the office will try provide

b) Website of IEF

One of the easiest way obtaining
information, it can be extracted from IEF portal website and this can be done
directly. The information is publically published through IIUM official portal
website where everyone has access for it anytime. However, although the
information provided there are a lot but it is repetitive and still not enough
to support completely the study of IEF. For example, there is information
regarding the type of product of IEF such as waqf and Dewan Zabedah. The
information given such as the definition of waqf
and explanation, type of waqf, and
profile of Dewan Zabedah. This study needs to know the model used on waqf, the application in form of modus
operandi chart or any possible information that is not directly provide in

Those above are the methods of gaining information
which most of it directly taken from IEF itself with several outside resources.
One way of extracting the data is in form of primary data such as interview, document
in the IEF office. In addition, the other way called secondary data can be
taken through IEF’s published documents either form its website, annual report,
assets profile and other forms. The outside resources can be done through
literature review the research paper and published article those are related to

4.3 Sampling

according with Roscoe (1975) and mentioned again by Sekaran (2003), there are
several criteria in determining the sample size for appropriate study should be
larger than 30 and less than 500 respondents.
Again Sekaran (2003) mentioned that “In multivariate research (including
multiple regression analyses), the sample size should be several times (preferably
10 times or more) as large as the number of variables in the study”

This research will put an effort to gather more than
100 respondents consist of IEF staff, staff from Finance Division and IIUM main
campus staff.

4.4 Analysis of

data from the interview, website and annual report will be explained first for
the better understanding on IEF framework and contribution then the result of
the survey will be analyzed to strengthen the information from the staff perspective
and awareness.

4.4.1 Descriptive

to Citations, References & Layout Formatting Unit of IIUM (2017), it
indicates that “the descriptive statistics is describing the data after
analyzing and summarizing it which is later simplified by presenting them in
tabular format, graphs or charts”.

4.4.2 ANOVA and

of variance called ANOVA purposely being used in common research based on the
survey to compare more than two groups whilst t-test is used to compare between
two groups of data. Adams et al. (2007) pointed out that unequal variance for
t-test is used if the total of ratios between two standard deviation squared is
more than 2.
