Business and teamwork – EssayAuthor: ElvirIkanovi? – Teamwork,as we all know, is one of the main reasons for the success of manyorganizations. Thisconcept of team work is not limited to organizations, but is used at almostevery stage of individual life. Fromthe basic stages of life, a person would be part of one or the other group, either intentionally or otherwise.
Forexample, sports, social activity, business development or project. Themore formal a task, the greater the responsibility of the individual inrelation to a particular task. Although aperson is a strong team player, it can hinder the success of the team. It can soundcontradictory, but it is possible in practice. Forexample, during the presentation of a team at a science show I recentlyvisited, one person accepted the task of going to the flipchart and presentingit. Hewas highly motivated and called himself a good team player and, of course, hedid everything he could to succeed.
Atthe same time as he presented his work, he did the same to interfere withteamwork rather than supporting it. Forexample, he dismissed a few ideas from others, which he thought were irrelevantwithout a second thought about it. Theother team members are completely disappointed that we can clearly see from thefaces of the other team members. Thisheart was in the right place, considering how hard he wanted the team tosucceed. Still, with the way it worked, it seems as though it’s just trying to make the taskeven harder. Thesame applies to other participants.
Onesays he is a very good listener, but misinterprets what is just said. Anotherperson describes himself as a support of fans, but continues to add points tothe extension of the debate. Noneof them realized that their behavior was contrary to the success of the teamthey wanted to achieve. So,how people behave and act as members of the group are as important as theirbehavior or performance as individuals. Althoughthe task becomes easier and achievable for the individual when working in theteam, it can also be potentially demanding.
Inthis paper, I critically evaluated the use of theories and research in thefield, that work in a group can be psychologically cost-effective, andpotentially demanding for an individual. – Whenwe work for a client, in the early phase of the project, we are not controlledby a client, so there is less pressure on each member of the team and we areused to taking it for granted. Sometimeswe were not accurate, which delayed the delivery of the product.
That’swhy our client has asked our team members to submit a daily work report and askus to work on remote computers in order to be able to monitor the time of ourstatus on time and day by day. Thishas increased the pressure on each member of the team and since then we havebeen precise enough and worked with our full potential. Thisincreased the output and we managed to complete the job early than what weexpected. Aftera few days, our client was not regularly followed, but our work potentialremained the same. All ofour team members had good coordination among themselves.
Witha lot of members who worked, we had a variety of skills and expertise. Thishelped us to make up for it and help others complete the task before we leavefor that day. Everyonein the team had a good team spirit and everyone played his role as a teamplayer. However, this isnot always the case. Therewould be many scenarios in which resources can not be performed well despitegood resources. Thisis due to the lack of coordination and conflict between team members.
Conflictsin the team are very natural because people from different personalities, different cultures and different views come to a common platform. Theability to identify earlier and to understand the myth in these problems isimportant, in order to make the difference to make the team effective. Conflictsin the team are generally the result of the idea that “my way is the rightway” or misinterpreting the motive using myself as an indicator, judgingby the estimates of differences, etc.
Ifteam members can feel these tendencies in themselves and squeeze such problemsin the buds, they will emerge from the diversity that adds all colors to theteam’s length.Asa team, it is also necessary to identify the strengths and weaknesses of eachteam member. Asa team, everyone needs to encourage the trust of the close members of the teamby demonstrating their strengths, not only will they build their faith onthemselves, but also build trust in the team and increase the socialrelationship between the team that is very needed. Instead,if any member of the team always points to negative persons or criticizes thework done by a person in a group, he loses interest in work and will not takeownership for his work for a long time. Thiswould not only affect the performance of that person, but would also affectteam performances as a whole. Whenworking in a team, the risk is equally divided among all team members. Butsometimes it happens that no one assumes responsibility for failure.
Alsono one knows who works, and the job can not be done if there is no propercommunication between team members. Therefore, proper communication is very needed among team members. Also, all team members need to feel responsible for the end product. – Teamwork is defined as a joint action of a group of people, in which each personsubordinates his individual interests and opinions to the unity andeffectiveness of the group. Ajoint action of people is effective when all team members have certaincharacteristics. Theyare, the team must have a clear goal. Everyoneshould know what to expect and what is expected of the team.
The team must have a common climate. Theyshould be good listeners, competent and devoted to work. Theteam should listen to ideas shared by others, and should also be able toconvince others when a different idea would bring better results. Teammembers should not produce negative opinions about others. Itis important that the team team is obliged to recognize the strengths andweaknesses of the team and timely support the team. Teamperformance needs to be monitored and team effort recognized and acknowledgedfor all their support during hard times.Speakingof the darker side of team work, when there is a lack of sense of unity amongteam members, however, a technically strong team will lead to a failure toachieve a task.
Therewould be no coordination between them and everyone would try to blame orcriticize others. Incertain scenarios, individual responsibility will not be recognized through theteam. Thesame person will also be criticized along with others when there is a failureto complete the task.
SoI would lose my interest in the job. Therefore, the responsibility of the teams is to identify that person and acknowledge himfor his work. It wouldimpress others to work the same way.
