CSR ASSESSMENTS PLATFORMS  

 

In September 2015, the European Commission has released 17 sustainable development goals (2015-2030) for new century which will replace the Millenium Development Goals (2000-2015). To achieve this, countries implement new rules and policies to support for reducing the changing climate. In order to meet all sustainable development goals, there are some platforms providing companies tools and guidance to keep track on their sustainability performance.

1. EcoVadis

 

EcoVadis is an organization providing the Sustainability Ratings platform for supply chains. To provide the best assessments, EcoVadis has designed their methodology of assessments based on credible standards from UN Global Compact, ISO 26000 and Global Reporting Initiative. EcoVadis’s Rating system was validated by ISAE 3000 and ISO 27001 Certification. In the EcoVadis system, companies will receive tools to improve performance based on concrete CSR scorecards which is from three main categories: environment, social, ethics and supply chain.

 

2. SEDEX

 

SEDEX is a non-profit memebership association, incorporated in the UK as a Company Limited by Guaantee. SEDEX operates an ethical audit platform dedicated to providing transparency of the ethical performance of global supply chains. To operate their platform, SEDEX is developing a procedure called SMETA – Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit which included 4 pillars: labour standards, health , business ethics and the environment which is built up by United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, UN Guiding Principle Reporting Framework, Code and International Labour Standards, International Labour Organization (ILO) Occupational Safety and Health Convention 155, Employment Freely Chosen. Basically, SEDEX applies local laws and international laws to develop the assessment system.Besides, SEDEX sends an auditor to the company to check the documents for sustainability assessments and the auditor will check and record company’s situation in few working days.

 

3. BSCI (amfori)

 

BSCI is a system which is operated by amfori, a business-driven service provided by Foreign Trade Association. They evaluate sustainability performance by using different standards: UN, ECD, ILO. The credible audits will be sent to companies to check docuements and identify issues as well as approving for certification. Their members are retailers, importers and brands committed to improving environmental performance in supplying factories and farms worldwide.

 

4. FIRA

 

FIRA is an independent organization which provides a CSR platform to review the sustainability performance. The methodology developed by FIRA is based on ISO 26000, GRI and AA1000. The methodology has been evaluated by NEN (Dutch Institute for standardization and normalization) on consistency with the NPR9026. A Committee of Experts is appointed existing of procurements specialists and CSR managers. Also, NEVI takes a seat on the committee. This Committee considers the methodology used and considers new developments. Developments of the platform in combination with the market trends in the field of corporate social responsibility and sustainable procurement.
