David Hume The person I am doing my book report on is David Hume. The title of my book is also called David hume. The person who wrote the book is John Valdimir Price.David hume was an Scottish philosopher, historian, economist, and essayist. He is best known for influential system of philosophical naturalism. He was born May 7, 1711, and he died August 25, 1776. David hume has a father named Joseph hume. His mother was named catherine falconer. His father died in 1713. David hume is an taurus. He was born in Scotland, great britain. He was never married. David died the same place he was born. He was the second of two sons. He was half way two years old when his dad died. He was singly raised by his mother. In 1734 he changed his last name from hume to home. When he was 12 years old, he attended University of Edinburgh. Some people didn’t like the fact that he went at the age of 12 because they said it seemed unusual. David was going to go to school for law, but he found his real talent in philosophy in result he never graduated. At the age of 18, he made a philosophical discovery that opened something new for him. Not anyone ever knew what the it was. David spent 10 years reading and writing about his thought. He had no formal education. After four years in france he came up with his first work ‘A treatise of new nature’ in 1738. In 1744 he published Essays and political. The book was responded to well. He applied for chair of pneumatics, but he was declined. For a year he was an atheist. For a year he was a tutor to marquis of annandale. In 1763 he was invited to attend lord hertford. He was offered so many secretary positions in secretary. David hume was well known. Some people ….. Well really a lot of people were really jealous of him so they tried to keep him from pursuing his dreams. He had all sorts of dreams. He had many opportunities come his way actually, but he didn’t accept them. But when he tried to get somewhere he wanted to go he always got declined but he got where he wanted to go at some point. He earned money that needed to be earned for his type of business. He was a very casual person. He loved science and mathematics. He often called himself a scientist. David is a very confident person. He was dealt with a lot of things in his life that he just looks over. In 1751 he returned to edinburgh; candidate for chair at university of glasgow. Bellmen’s petition published concerning principles of morals. In 1754 The first volume of the history of great britain published. He lived in london 1758 through 1759. In 1763 he became secretary at lord hentfors. After that he was an under- secretary of state until january. He retired to edinburgh in 1769. The last year he was living he wrote an essay called “my own life”. It basically told about his whole lifetime while he was living. He did it into summaries. Most people criticize it. Saying things like it was no reason for it or it was lack of sense, but he didn’t care about nun of that he just wanted to tell his lifetime. Most of his life was successful most of it wasn’t. After his death many people looked into his life.
