1.8 THE LIMITATIONS AND
DELIMITATIONS OF THE STUDY

There are some constraints associated with this
research as outlined below:

The
issue confidentiality may affect this research as certain information may
not be obtained from companies due to oath of secrecy on disclosure of
information to persons outside the organisation. Companies may not want to
release information that may seem to damage their reputation.
The
use of historical data may be problematic especially when used to make
some conclusion and recommendations.
It
would have been best to have interviews with convicts themselves who are
currently incarcerated on commercial crimes but the beauraucracy in
obtaining such authority approval may prevent that.

The
scope of the study will be limited to review of fraud case that has taken place
within the borders of Cameroon.

1.7 THE ANTICIPATED
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

This is an important area of research especially that
many companies are experiencing unprecedented levels of fraudulent activities
perpetrated by very trusted individuals and others in the organisation. Governments
are losing a  lot of  revenue as billions of dollars are not finding
their way into the normal channels for them to pay taxes. Most of the stolen
funds are invested in offshore banks in order to evade detection. Therefore,
those funds do not benefit the nation in any way.  It is therefore important to find effective
ways of fighting crime in Cameroon and to be able to trace and recover assets
that are ill-gotten. Some of the benefits of the study are as follows:

To
the student

The research will help the student to gain an in-depth
knowledge on the impact of forensic investigations in solving economic and
financial crimes in Cameroon.  The study
will help the student in partial fulfilment of the requirement of the Master of
Science in Forensic Accounting and Criminal Investigations degree.

To
the University

This research will form the bases for future research on
the impact of forensic accounting in solving economic and financial crimes in
Cameroon.

To
third parties

The research will greatly help organisations in coming
up with systems and strategies that help them in curbing and successful
resolution and prosecution of fraudsters within their individual organisations.
