Froma very young age, I have been in touch with the world of business as my parentsown a restaurant. Through the company of my parents, I have understood theimportance of managing money and the power that the money has. As time passed,it became clear to me that the people who understand how to control the moneyare capable of guiding the company to success. I wanted to become one of thosepeople and the course of accounting and finance would help me to achieve myobjective.
Myenthusiasm for accounting and finance started from an application that helpsyou to manage the money. Through this application you could clearly see yourinflows or outflows. Besides, you could also compare your financial situationof other years.
Thus, I started to ask myself questions like how do multinationalcompanies control cashflow? How do they know the amount of quantity needed tobe sold in order to earn a profit? I was increasingly curious about aspectsrelated to this topic.I have developed several skills during my high schoolyears that will help me in this field. The subject of maths has made me developa logical method of thinking and improved my analytic skills. Besides, I havebecome a more organized person as during my high school years we have a lot ofprojects to do. On Saturdays, I have to attend to Chinese class from 10 am to 5pm. Sometimes, I also go to the restaurant to help as a waiter which hasimproved my communication skills. I have also become a more observant person whichwill help me in the future to find out the problems that the business might befacing.
Furthermore, I have worked as a cashier and I develop some accountingskills such as knowing how to do a balance sheet for a real business. Therefore,it was very important for me to learn to manage my time effectively. I believethat with these skills I am well prepared to take a degree course in accountingand finance.

My year abroad in China has made me become a more independentand responsible person. As a prefect, I was in charge of lots of tasks such as controllingthe order of the school, making sure that everyone was wearing the uniformappropriately and following the school rules. During this year, I also becamemore patient through practicing ink brush and painting. Thanks to my patience,I was able to develop an artwork in which I won the third prize. Studyingthe IB program has given me the possibility of choosing the subjects that I amtruly interested in, above all Business Management and Economics which have servedto strengthen my interest in the commercial world. In the subject of business management, I have learnt a lot ofnew concepts and through this subject, I have strengthened my interest inaccounting and finance. Furthermore,the project of the cafeteria that was organized by my class helped me developmy teamwork skills. It also gave me an overview of how a small business worksand how different departments work together to come up with the final idea.
Inwhich the money earned in the cafeteria was donated to Turkana.Myaspirations after finishing the course of accounting and finance would be towork in a multinational company as an accountant. In order to achieve my goal,I plan on taking internships in different countries during my summer breaks togain more work experience and to understand different cultures. I believe thatmy language skills will help me to achieve my goal as I know how to speakfluently in Spanish, English, and Chinese and also have a working knowledge ofGerman.
