I had attended St.
John Fisher Catholic church at 300 Balmoral Dr, Brampton, On L6T 1V6 on December 11, 2017. I always yearn to attend a church ,although this project addressed me a motivation to explore it more.I went with my college friend who is Catholic Christian. On another hand, I was truly scared because I wear hijab and I had feared what if they don’t let me enter in the church. Moreover, I grow up in the Islamic family, my parents taught me about what is religion and why particular people practice the particular religion. Also I do admire all the religion but the reason I choose Catholic religion because it’s an Abrahamic religion and believes in one God.
As I entered the church, The first thing that really fascinated me was the attraction of the church itself. Interior of the church was stained glass side window with church narthex. There were many smaller windows that displayed different apostles and saints. There were several benches lining in the church .Moreover, I questioned my friend about the purposes of the cross while she explained to me that Catholic used the cross sign to focus on particular prayers.
On another hand, I saw a lot of families and people getting together. They all seemed really happy.Everyone there was really nice.
Also, I was really astonished that people were surprisingly loud. However, In my place of worship, the mosque is really quiet and everyone there whispers. But as priest start talking everyone got quiet. Also, i noticed, that there were stained glasses everywhere which was used for holy water and there people around the holy water they started dipping their hands in there. After pray, I also confirm the content that I was taught in this course with the priest and it was right. Firstly, the priest explained that Catholic believe in the seven sacraments. The seven sacraments for Catholic are baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist, marriage, confession, ordination and anointing of the sick.
Also, Catholic believes in salvation and they assume this a gift from God over love .Also, I discovered that Baptism analyzes the key to the salvation and it happens after birth so then they get immortal life in heaven and will be preserved from sin and death through that conviction and love.On another hand, they also believe that Mary is the mother of Jesus and called the mother of God.
Moreover, they affirm that Mary was virgin when she gave birth to Jesus and remained a virgin for her whole life. They believe that marrying was sinless when bearing Jesus.According to the priest.Mary is the mother of Catholic and the mother of the church.I also endure about some holy ceremony. For instance, Communion which is considered the holy ceremony and describes the greatest representation of God adores his people.According to the priest, they use only two items in the holy communion: the bread which represents the Jesus body and cup of wine that represent the shed of his blood.
However, this is considered really important in the Catholic family and the first communion is placed often when a child is around 7 or 8 years old. Besides, i also learn about the prevailing knowledge of the Catholicism and their belief during the conversation. The priest informed me that Catholic also assumes that since Adam and Eve disobeyed God in the garden of Eden, all human are born with sin and it can only remove by Baptism.Furthermore, He affirmed that Catholicism provides some ideas with other Christian practice but crucial.
Catholic belief includes the following: the Bible, baptism, god of ten commandments and Holy Trinity.Beside with this, I also learn that there are foremost commandments of the church which include the following receiving holy communion during Easter time, supporting the church, assisting at Mass on all Sundays, holy days obligation and observing the laws of the church concerning marriage. Moreover, they also accept that God is angry with people for not treating as they should. After we die God will bring everybody back to life and judge them and also believe that all people should attempt christ’s commands and example in their everyday actions.
Overall, I truly enjoyed my visit to St John Fisher Catholic church. Also, I received a compatible penetration into Catholic history and beliefs in my assignment. My intercommunication with congregation encourages me to become the volunteer for this church. This activity was beyond remarkable because I have seen and learn a whole lot about catholic religion. This assignment gives me the opportunity to talk to many people and intensify my knowledge about the Catholic religion.
