“I’m a kind person, I’m kind to everyone, but if you are unkind to me, then kindness is not what you’ll remember me for”(“TOP”).   Capone was born in New York, then left school at about age twelve and worked at a bowling alley as a pinboy.  At the age of eighteen Capone moved to Chicago, joined a gang, and became good friends with Johnny Torrio.  While working as Bouncer for Torrio’s gang he got into a bar fight: There he got the name “Scarface” after getting slashed in the face with a razor.  Capone killed maybe 4 men in his whole entire career but, hired men to carry out dozens of murders.

Capone was crazy, he once kidnapped the great Fats Waller so he can play at a private gathering.  Capone made about $100 million  a year from “prostitution, gambling, bootlegging, and extortion”(“The”).  Capone was in charge of the Saint Valentine’s Day Massacre, got caught for prohibition and tax evasion, and spent eleven excruciating years of his sentence in three different places.  On February 14th , 1929, Capone decides to give one of his business rivals George “bugs” Moran and his company a little surprise at Moran’s North Street Clarke garage.

Bug’s who tried to assassinate Capone and Torrio in the past was out to get Capones number one gunman “Machine Gun” Jack McGurn.  So, Capone and McGurn do what every gangster would do; they decide to kill Moran.  Through cash payoffs, Capone gets his hands on a few Chicago P.D. uniforms and a police cruiser.  Since Moran’s men already knew Capone’s mob, Three members from the Purple Gang from Detroit, Michigan were hired to pose as policemen.

When the disguised gang members entered the garage they encountered seven men; one of the men being Albert Weinshank who “bore a strikingly physical resemblance to Moran.”  Thinking that Weinshank was Moran, the disguised men ordered the seven men to raise their hands and stand facing the back wall.  At that point two members of Capone’s gang entered the garage and then the hit team opened fire on the seven men with “Three machine guns, a shotgun, and a revolver.  Within thirty seconds the seven lay dead on the floor.”  Two bystanders were also killed and 200 empty magazines all over the floor.  Moran was unharmed because he was three blocks away drinking coffee in a diner.

The men left the scene of the crime in the cop car and none of them were ever prosecuted for their part in the Saint Valentine’s Day Massacre.  Capone, who was in his Miami home had an “airtight alibi” for where he was when the Saint Valentine’s Massacre took place(“Al Capone.” Outlaws).   Moran put the blame on Capone but, there was no evidence that Capone had anything to do with the Saint Valentine’s Day Massacre.  As the public turned against Capone, He thought the safest place for him right now was jail.Capone left Chicago and went to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

While there…Guess what? He was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon; his wish was granted.  He was sent to Eastern State Penitentiary but, he wanted more than a one year sentence.  While in prison
