Nowadays most of the
construction sector move towards digital transformation. To achieve this goal
line they tend to use integrated rich information methodologies such as BIM (Building
information modeling) and ERP (enterprise resource planning system).
Implemented BIM model generate collaborative model allows information among
Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) sector. In the early stage of
the construction industry each modeling system and each resource planning
system act as an individual island, now each individual island have been
connecting with bridge and form time efficient cost effective model under roof.
Various BIM (Autodesk Revit, BIM 360) tools provide greater service to construction
industry and Various ERP tools also available in global market (SAP, Oracle,
Weberp). Automated construction sector tend to use efficient integrated ERP
& BIM system for easiness of the work and to reduce rework. But some
Potential limitation occur due to lack of the technical knowledge among the BIM
and ERP user, reliability of the information gathered from these tools. My
research focus on finding the economical & sustainable way to integrate BIM
& ERP system.

 

Problem
Statement

Currently Building
Information Modelling (BIM) tools and workflows are now widely acknowledged as
enablers for improved efficiencies of the construction project through its life
cycle. Due to the demand of the BIM technology in the construction industry
involvement of the researchers on this technology have been rapidly growth in
recent years. More than 50% research were carried on use of BIM in construction,
conceptual& detailed design and feasibility management. Among the BIM
researchers Less than 5% were observed on BIM integration with ERP system. Lack
of interest on ERP system in small scale companies. Although it has been
observed far behind to use fully utilized BIM features. Additional overhead due
to Information technology development delay the growth rate of these tools in
developing organization.  Lack of
educational knowledge about among construction staff also identified as issue
in the operational phase.

The potential limitation of
my research are each firm are using different ERP tools in the construction
industry. Carried out research for various software tools is a difficult task. Cost
of the software tools cause a barrier for further research development. Expensiveness,
user friendly also effect the interest of the user rather than available
features of the software tools. Contractor requirement is depend on several
factors. Type, size of the project. It also being vary from place to place.  Knowledge gap between construction site and
software site delay integrating process of BIM& ERP system.

 

Significance
of the research

Lack of collaboration among
the staff member will lead to most of the construction failure. Lot of human
error was observed in every step of the construction process. The construction
industry currently generates 9% of gross domestic product (GDP) and provides
millions of jobs in and is responsible for effect like as resource depilation,
energy consumption Sustainable collaborative model is need for accurate cost
and time efficient construction. It will give better solution to quick solution
of the construction issue.
