s1 {font-kerning: none}span.Apple-tab-span {white-space:pre} Working out has been a lifestyle for me for 8 years now and it really started opening my eyes once I started to build muscle. I was literally changing my body by being self-disciplined in going to the gym. Routine is crucial, too many times we say to ourselves, “Meh, i’ll do it tomorrow’.

The unfortunate thing is that often times tomorrow never comes. This is where we have to have self-discipline. We have to decide now if we really want to change, or if we are just kidding ourselves. We can’t be luke warm, one foot in one foot out (doing the “Hokey Pokey”).

This is a important commitment like our relationship with Christ. It’s a commitment and a promise to ourselves that we are worth the work. That our body is worth putting in the effort, getting into the car, driving to the gym, paying the 40 dollar a month fee, and sweating for an hour. What’s funny is that what I have listed, really is not a lot to ask for.

It is just that it takes work to do it. No one wants to work, no body finds working to be pleasurable, BUT it is a necessity in order to be successful, in order to be wise and make good decisions, and it takes work in order to be healthy. I am preaching to myself when I say this because I am not the healthiest person in the world and I have still got a far way ahead of me, but we have to be willing to take steps. Making that promise to yourself that you’ll start a routine at the gym is that first step. We aren’t talking about a new job, we aren’t talking about buying a car, someday these will flee and wither away one day.

We are talking about your body. The temple you have that will be with you your entire life and depending on how you treat it will depend on the amount of time you spend here on earth. The important thing is we are headed down the right path to healthy living. For some of us its each rep, pushing, and pulling that iron; others its taking stride after stride just you, a pair of running shoes, and mother nature; and some its stoke after stroke, peddling on a forgotten back road, as far as your legs will take you. Now some of you the gym may not be your favorite place but find your niche that makes you feel lost like getting lost inside of a movie.

It could running, rock climbing, yoga, or riding a bike. It doesn’t matter how we are getting there; what matters is that we ARE getting there. Find the path that’s right for you, and never look back.
