Usally follows conventional rulers of grammer, organized by sentences and paragraphs, structure helps explain the content, written in paragraph form

Poetry
Doesn’t necessarly follow conventional rules of grammar, line ending determined by authors, structure helps express the authors thought feelings, often use sound device such as repetition, alliteration, rhyme, and rhythm

fairytale
usually involves magic, dwarves, castle, kings or queens

folktale
stories passed down from one generation to the next. These stories usually reflect a culture or beliefs

biography
A story about a person’s life written by a different person

Myths
Stories involving gods

Autobiography
A story about an author writes about his or her own life

fable
a story that usually teaches a moral lesson and usually involves animals

poems
written in stanzas

nonfiction
involves facts or events that are true
