Roddy Scheer and Doug Moss, “Deforestation and Its Extreme Effect on Global Warming” Scientific American, https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/deforestation-and-global-warming/ Accessed January 16, 2018
This article begins to talk about how deforestation in tropical rainforests adds more carbon dioxide to the atmosphere than an estimated sum of cars and trucks on roads. Deforestation is caused by logging. A tree has carbon stored within it. When it is felled, it releases it into the atmosphere. Which is a source of greenhouse gasses causing it to subsidize global warming proportionately.
Between the years 2000 and 2009, 32 million acres of tropical rainforests were cut down. The Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) says “Unless we change the present system that rewards forest destruction, forest clearing will put another 200 billion tons of carbon into the atmosphere in coming decades.” The pace of deforestation is increasing each year, due to human growth. Convincing Amazon basin residents and other tropical regions of the world to stop cutting down trees has been difficult and overwhelming. Though the convincing doesn’t work, people are driven by farming, population, and economics. Exaggeration of global warming isn’t the only reason, the unilluminating of biodiversity is a cause as well. More than half of the world’s plant and animal species live in tropical rainforests.
The United Nation’s Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (REDD) program is helping many countries come together to reducing this environmental problem. The REDD program has channeled over $117 million in direct financial aid and educational support. Having reduction efforts in 44 developing countries across Africa, Asia, and Latin America since its 2008 inception. Thanks to the program, Brazil has reduced deforestation by 40 percent within its borders since 2008 and is on track to attain 80 percent reduction by 2020.
John Vidal, “We are destroying forests so quickly they may be gone in 100 years” The guardian https://www.theguardian.com/global-development-professionals-network/2017/jan/23/destroying-rainforests-quickly-gone-100-years-deforestation Accessed January 18, 2018
This article begins to talk about how people have been deforesting the tropic for many and many years. About 18million hectares of forest are felled every year. Possibly, 1billion hectares in just 40 years. Because trees go fast, the chance of slowing or reversing climate change is slim. Deforestation causes carbon dioxide (greenhouse gas) to linger in the atmosphere and ploy solar radiation. As all this happens this causes climate change and raises in temperature. The consent of the worlds atmospheric is 12% of climate emissions. Which is coming from deforestation, mostly in tropical areas.
As forests come down, those live in or around may be distressed and migrate into a new lifestyle in search of work. Not only do these areas of green provide food, they provide energy security and is the home to many the richest wildlife. Thankfully those who are established with tropical regions have come together to reduce emissions and keep global temperatures in balance. If these countries stick to their assurance and let the areas recover, greenhouse gasses could be reduced by as much as 24 to 30%.
The science and economics of deforestation are in a stand. Although there is an issue in the way. Countries with tropical regions are some of the weakest in the world. Becoming desperate in need of help to establish a richer economy. Done by using natural resources. However, their pledges to reduce deforestation are particularly restricted in richer countries financially and is the only way reduction be achieved. Throughout history, the rich have caused the most climate change.
Gabrielle Collin “My Opinion” Deforestation in the Amazon https://deforestationamazonforest.weebly.com/my-opinion.html Accessed January 18, 2018
The Amazon Rainforest is considered the “lungs of the Earth”. This is because the trees bring in new and fresh clean air that overpower CO2. The Amazon is the only thing that can save earth from global warming. It is said that if it was all destructed, Earth will end a lot sooner. The Amazon is a habitat for thousands of species, especially the rarest of all animals. It also inhabits plants too.
The activity of deforestation is wrecking Amazonia. Because deforestation is the center of needs like paper and wood about 64 acres of rainforests are destroyed per couple minutes. Agriculture makes up one of the many reasons for deforestation. Loss of soil fertility effects farmers to plant and grow crops. When a tree is felled it is tearing up what is underneath. Often, the soil that has moved from cleared land washes away into rivers, creating water pollution.
Although deforestation creates jobs and brings money to families, it ruins some and puts people in danger. Communities living in the forest can be hurt by those doing their job. Deforestation is not for the greater good. Many organizations come together to reduce deforestation and protect the trees and the animals that live among.

The loss native tropical forests account for more than 10% of carbon and climate change. The carbon that is contained in trees and in other vegetation is released as carbon dioxide into the atmosphere when forests are cleared and burned. Causing global warming, forests average about 150 tons of carbon per hectare and millions more are burned every year.
More than 60 governments have come together and signed onto the World Wildlife Fund’s pledge to accomplish no deforestation at all. This helped Brazil reduce its cut down and now is looking exceptional. While the news was being shared, deforestation in Latin America reached 2,256 square miles between August 1, 2012, and July 31, 2013. A year ago, it was 4,751 square miles. The increase was horrific and the government did not tolerate any deforestation. They are now calling it a crime. Based on this the Brazilian government worked together all around the world to reduce the Amazon deforestation by 80% by 2020.
The trend of deforestation has worsened in the tropics because of the lack of knowledge in people of earth and its science. Becoming overwhelming, the government and leaders profess the advantage of accountability. In the most remote regions of the world, deforestation will be exposed and good deeds of knowledge will be spread across the world concerning every human about the cons of deforestation and its effect on them and global climate change.
