The Metro in 2016. The analysis and mapping

The ardour Ipossess for Civil Engineering dates back to my childhood. I was fascinated bymulti-storeyed structures, roads and highways being built around and wouldalways gaze upon them while passing by or just stop by and try to understandwhat was actually going on during the construction. It was due to thisenthusiasm and zeal I decided to pursue a career in Civil Engineering. As the first maneuvertowards that, I decided to pursue my bachelor’s degree in civil engineering andgot admitted in Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi; which is the 12thranked university and amongst the top 20 engineering colleges in India. Icompleted the degree of Bachelors of Technology (Civil Engineering) in 2017with 1st class standing.Superlativecoursework structure coupled with high academicstructure further developed my interest in an active career in research.

Amongthe wide spectrum of subjects taught I had the opportunity to study EngineeringEconomy & Construction Management, Environmental Engineering, and Building Materials. I also took upConstruction Project Management as one of my electives. It was while studyingthese subjects that I developed a keen interest in Planning and ProjectManagement.

During my undergraduate studies, I completed a project for Construction management lab, involving the preparation of B.O.Q and Scheduling & Planning of activitiesfor a 2-storey canteen facility usingPrimavera P6. I have also undertaken a 50hour vocational course in Planning andProject Management (PPM) using Primavera P6.I undertook an internshipin CSIR-CRRI (CSIR- Central Road Research Institute, Delhi) where I assisted inthe study of Impact of Noise Pollution in different areas Pre-and-Post Metro in2016. The analysis and mapping of noise level weredone in SAMURAI 1.7(SINUS Acoustic Multichannel Universal Real-timeAnalysis Instrument).

For the completion of the degree, I completed my final year project on the title ‘Feasibilityand design of Rainwater Harvesting Plant in Ghaziabad’ which included thecalculation of runoff from different areas according to land use, the recommendation of suitable recharge structureand the number of recharge structures required.I believe an undergraduate degree is merely an introductionto the various fields in any branch of higher education, which is why aMaster’s Degree in Infrastructure Planning will be a step closer to myprofessional goal of a career in Planning and Project Management. I am aware thata master’s program from a university of such excellence and repute requires ahigh level of academic intelligence, indefatigable dedication and I amconfident that I possess aforementioned qualities.
