Using their phalanx formation they Spartans move the Persians into a narrow cavern, which then causes many causalities due to their numbers. Xeroxes then approaches Leonidas and says that he should surrender. This is the time when a very famous line is said. The line stated is ” “The World will know that free man stood against that stood against the tyrant and few stood against many and before this battle was over that even a god king can bleed”.  Xeroxes annoyed at Leonidas answers send out “The immortals”.

They Spartans make sure the world knows that they are not immortal. The battles continue with the animals from Persia. Many of these animals are mythological.

At the end of the battle some Spartans are killed. It becomes evident many more will be killed. Next, the disfigured man steps up to Xeroxes and tells him that he will tell him about the goat path in exchange for many things. Xeroxes agrees as long as he bows down to him.  The movie then goes back to Sparta, where Queen Gorgo wants to convince the council to send men to help her husband.

The men who get her a meeting with them then states that she will have to get Theron on her side. Once the Spartans reach the Hot Gates once again they realize that they have been betrayed. The Arcadians, the allies, retreat because they know they will die. Leonidas then send a messenger, Dilios, to go back to Sparta and tell of their death. Leonidas then hands the messenger the necklace Gorga gave to him before he left.

Back in Sparta, the queen tell her request to the council. Theron, who was supposed to support her betrays her and tells the council that she has been committing adultery. Gorgo then stabs Theron and when she does a bag filled with Persia coins fall out and the council realizes that he was a traitor. Once again, at the Hot Gates the Spartans have created a dome using their shields, while Leonidas stands in front of it.

One of the Persians generals says they should surrender; the disfigured man also states that as well. King Leonidas the says to the disfigured man “May you live forever” which was an insult to him. Leonidas then drops his shield and his helmet making it seem like he will surrender however one of the soldiers jumps out of the dome leaps over Leonidas and kills the general.

Leonidas then throws his sword at Xerxes cutting open his check. By doing this he is completing the action of “making a god king bleed.” After this much of the Spartans army is killed. Leonidas final moments are spent by saying out loud that he loves his wife.

Then arrows blot out the Sun and Leonidas is killed. Thistale is told before tells this tale before an group of Spartans before they areabout to go to battle. Praising this sacrifice of King Leonidas leads the Greekarmy in to the Battle of Plata.
