 The impact ofVoltaire in pre-revolution France is unfathomable. Francois-Marie Arouet was aFrench historian, philosopher and most importantly an enlightenment writer. He was thefirst philosopher in France who attempted to define a natural religion. Hewas critical of the fanaticism and dogma associated with contemporary religiousheads.
