The Boston Massacre to some is known as the point when the settlers united against the British. It was also the start of the Revolutionary War.Soldiers were posted at the State House.
They were there almost as decoration. They were ordered not to fire or attack anyone. Colonists had been throwing snowballs at them but when that was ineffective they put rocks inside the snowballs. One of the rock snowballs hit a soldier in the head. A little after they were a shot fired. 5 colonists ended up dead. This event was largely used as propaganda for the Revolutionary War.
It was changed to seem that the British started shooting at random colonists for no reason and that there were quite a lot more colonists killed. This was another event that united the colonists into one cause.Boston Tea PartyThe boston tea party was a large step in America’s rebellion against Britain. It was one of the first times where the Americans sowed Great Britain that we were not to be messed with.
WE were smarter and tougher that they thought we were. Before this rebellious act Britain believed we were not really serious about fighting for our independence. They were not taking us seriously. They would use us, their colonies, for their own advantage. They never really cared about what was best for us but now they believed we were going to do as much as we can to get our freedom. This act of rebellion cost the east india trading company around $12867.
14. This was a lot of money for the time and was devastating to the company. SaratogaThis battle became known as the turning point of the war. Some historians have said it is the only reason we won the war. We were able to win this war because it was being fought on our home territory. We had an advantage and were able to surround the British army.
Before this battle our soldiers moral was very low. Almost no one believed we would win. We were also trying to gain help from France. They believed helping us would never be good for them because it would only make Great Britain angry at them when we lost. After we won this battle France finally believed we could win this war.
This battle not only helped us gain confidence but France also had more confidence in us.This new faith in the U.S.
army helped us gain new soldiers and those who were on the fence about whether we should fight were now giving supplies and supporting the war. We not only got support from the people in our own borders but France sent over soldiers and supplies.
