Have you ever been warned/muted/banned – if so what for? (List in point form)Unfortunately I was warned three times back in 2014/2015, but I do not remember the reasoning behind these warns. They were valid and I have learned from all of the mistakes I have made when I was younger and new to the server and not familiar to the rules. Now, I am more mature and I do understand the rules now that I have more experience and have been apart of the community longer. Answering the full question, I have not been muted nor have I been banned.
What are your top three strengths and how will you apply them to the community?First, I have good people interaction or social interaction skills. Being good with people and talking is a good skill to have when handling problems or managing a community. I love interacting with the server and helping them in anyway possible. I can apply to this ability to the community well because of the amount of players there are on during the day. For example, the community has many different types of people, like some like to start drama or some like to follow the rules. The ability to communicate is important so you can get your message across easier. Lacking these skills, will result in having a chaotic server. For example, if there is a argument that is getting out of control, I would calmly try to tame it, making the community cleaner and healthier with a helper that knows how to control and talk to people better.
Also, I’ve had many instances in the past where communication skills are vital to solving a problem. If someone can’t understand how you want to get something across, they might not get the message. With better communication skills, one is able to better converse with others in a way that people can be helped and benefited from.
Being able to listen to what people have to say is such an important part of communicating as is not being too stern or too soft.Secondly, I am honest/non-bias. Trust and honesty is what holds a community or in this case, a server together. I strive to always keep my word and stay true to what I said. Adding to that, I try to never lie.
I like telling the truth, it makes me feel 100% better. I hate seeing people being dishonest and then getting in trouble. If there was a problem within the staff team, involving me, I would tell my said of the story exactly how I remembered it, not altering anything in the explanation. Also, I believe that another one of my strengths to help the server is my ability to be non bias.
I wont take sides as easily as other staff members or players. A good way to apply this is sometimes working with the previous strength. Being able to listen to both sides of a story and make a non bias decision is a good way to be fair and more honest with the community. For example, two players are having a dispute about a warn. I would be able to listen to both sides of the story with equal patience and open-mindedness, and then come up with a solution or resolve that fits both players without being on either player’s side. Of course, it wouldn’t be appropriate in that situation to handle in the global chat, so in those instances, I would go into local and try and watch global chat as much as possible so I can help these players.Lastly, a good strength of mine is my ability to observe.
It has helped me in many prior instances to be mindful of what is happening to be more open to what is relevant versus what isn’t. It can be easy for someone to miss important details in a situation when trying to solve it, and that can lead to mistakes which may affect the playerbase if the mistake is horrible enough, so having a skill like this is good on preventing mistakes from happening too often. Applying this with the previous skills to solve problems in the community makes to be a very effective combination for resolving issues quickly, and effectively.Are there any weaknesses which may affect you whilst being a moderator?School is one weakness that could affect my activity amongst the server. Because of the amount of homework I receive, this could play a major role in how active I could be.
Why do you want this position?I want this position because I want to help the server. Since I’ve been apart of the community so long I have enough experience and know the players well enough to be a good moderator. Also, I would like to contribute to the server in anyway possible because of the great potential it holds and I would like to be apart of that project. Also, I haven’t been on that server for a long time and I have only just gotten into wanting to help out the staff team. I would like to bring a more positive and clean community with me if I gain the tag of Moderator. Some people just do it for the popularity, and don’t really want to help the server. I am in every way against that. I don’t get why people take the time to apply if they just want the tag to be noticed.
I want to keep the chat clean and make sure everyone is having fun, not getting in pointless arguments. I get frustrated when no moderators are on and players think they can do anything since there are no staff members present.
